Goldfish with missing lower jawbone fitted with braces made from credit card

Born without a lower jawbone, Mr Hot Wing the goldfish struggled to eat and breathe, but is now sporting "fish braces" thanks to a veterinarian in Pennsylvania.

"Fish Braces!!?? Mr Hot Wing came in today for trouble breathing and inability to eat," Lehigh Valley Veterinary Dermatology said in a Facebook post.

"He was born without a lower jawbone and his mouth could not stay open. Brian Palmeiro did surgery to open his mouth and created this brace to help his mouth stay open."

After extensive research, Mr Palmeiro made the custom contraption for the goldfish out of a plastic credit card. Details as to how the surgery was performed are unknown. Altogether, the surgery cost around $150.
