Minnesotastan: You can do that with ants and postit notes. They leave a pheromone trail behind them, so let them walk on postits and then rearrange them so they make pretty patterns or go back outside.

According to Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_processionary#Larva a guy did that. They kept marching in a circle for a week!
