Councillor says that leaning sign makes town a ‘laughing stock’

A lopsided sign on a main road in Watford has been left unfixed for three months, prompting criticism from a Hertfordshire county councillor.

Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Lib Dem, has been complaining to the county’s contractor Ringway since July about the 'give way' sign in Vicarage Road.

But despite reporting the sign, Cllr Giles-Medhurst has yet to receive a response from the highways department. He said: “It is atypical of the county council not to do anything about it. The sign is on a main road just off the ring road.

“I imagine it will take around 30 minutes max and probably cost around £50. Watford is becoming a laughing stock.” If the sign was on a shorter, less busy road Cllr Giles-Medhurst said he would understand but he cannot believe nothing has been done despite it being three months since the complaint.
