A shoplifter who stole a single shoe because his friend had a leg in plaster has been jailed for four months at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.
Alexander English, 25, from Irvine admitted stealing a trainer from a sports shop in the Ayrshire town.
Sheriff Alistair Watson asked: "Did he have a market for one shoe?"
James Irvine, defending English, replied: "He didn't have a market for one, my lord, but his friend who has a leg in plaster did."
