It seems you can’t be too young to be a patriot, as a 6-year-old girl recently demonstrated.
Megan Germany, who just completed kindergarten at Browning-Pearce Elementary School, was returning from a field trip when she learned of a perceived toilet paper shortage among American soldiers in Afghanistan.
She was sitting next to Clay Beck, whose father, Sgt. Jeff Beck, was stationed at Fort Operating Base Alamo, about 10 miles east of Kabul.
“What Clay said was, ‘Do you believe they have to wipe their hineys with rocks over there?’” Clay’s mom, Kristin Beck, said Friday in the Germanys’ living room.
With the help of her parents, Megan went into business at the end of her driveway, selling cups of ice-filled lemonade and lemon cookies for a quarter a pop.
A steady steam of customers stopped by and many gave more than the asking price. In less than an hour — the time in took for the ice, cups and cookies to be gone — Megan raised $37.
