A newsreader has apologised after a live broadcast in which she informed viewers that it was "pissing it down" in Stoke-on-Trent.
Joanne Malin had meant to say "tipping it down" while braving inclement conditions during an outside broadcast for ITV's Central News at Stoke's Trentham Gardens.
The presenter told the Birmingham Mail: "It was my first on-air faux pas in eight and a half years on Central and I am so sorry."
"To be on the safe side, next time it rains I am going to call it precipitation."
