A 16-year-old girl responsible for the "simply evil" death of a cat which she hurled off a fifth floor balcony was given a four-month detention order.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also banned from keeping animals for 10 years.
Birmingham youth court was told that the cat was put down last year after being hurled from a tower block in the Druids Heath area as at least two other teenagers filmed the cruelty on camera phones.
Pamela Holt, the chairman of the bench, told the 16-year-old: " This was wanton cruelty committed against a defenceless cat. You were part of a group that hurled the cat, not once, but four times from a fifth floor balcony."
