Toddler put in dryer 'for fun time'

A Perth court has been told a 21-year-old man put a baby girl in a clothes dryer for two minutes "to give her a fun time".

Samuel Barnes-Siddall pleaded guilty in the Joondalup Magistrate's Court to causing bodily harm to the 14-month-old girl, who was left in his care one night in May while her mother went to the gym.

The court heard the man put the girl in the dryer when medicine was spilt on her clothes.

She suffered multiple burns and bruises to her back, forehead, hands and feet.

Barnes-Siddall's lawyer Ronald Smith told the court his client put the girl in the dryer for a "fun time" because she enjoyed having "dizzy whizzies".

Mr Smith said Barnes-Siddall was deeply remorseful and had virtually withdrawn from society since the incident.
