Bungling tycoon Henk Verschuur gives stunned local taxpayers a V-sign at an opening ceremony — instead of a Churchill-style victory salute.
The Dutchman immediately realised his mistake and turned round his hand at the launch of a controversial £45million spa in Bath, Somerset.
His firm built Thermae Bath Spa for the council — and he opened it with chairman Lorraine Morgan-Brinkhurst. But it was four years late and £30million over budget.
One onlooker said: “His gaffe was typical of this project.”
