12 police go after untaxed car

Twelve police and DVLA officials came after a man - because his car was untaxed.

Liam O'Connor of Erdington, Birmingham said he was shocked when two patrol cars, a Transit van, three motorcycles - and three tow trucks turned up at his house.

His wife Meg added: "You'd have thought he was wanted for murder... not an offence carrying an £80 fine. It was a stupid over-reaction."

The £600 Rover was taken away but later recovered after Owen paid £200 - £80 of it the fine and the rest a "surety" repayable if the car was taxed within 14 days.
