Man stabbed with fish

A man is recovering after he was stabbed with the bill of a swordfish measuring almost one metre.

It is believed the 28-year-old victim was drinking with friends when a 26-year-old man, who was with another group, approached him and asked for some beer.

When the man refused, the beer-seeker walked home and collected the swordfish bill - measuring 84cm. He then returned and allegedly used it to stab the first man.

Police believe it is the first reported incident of a stabbing with a swordfish bill. The victim was taken to a clinic for initial treatment and then moved to Royal Darwin Hospital.
