Teenager locked up for breaking wind in court

Flatulent Joseph Wildy was thrown in cells for 90 minutes after the fuming JP took exception to his foul-smelling outburst.

The 19-year-old was appearing with four co-defendants when he decided to kick up a stink at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court. Wildy — wearing a bright blue tracksuit and with his surname tattooed on his neck — let rip while standing in the well of the court, just yards from teams of lawyers and probation officers.

He at first emitted a single thunderous retort — then followed it with several smaller noises which left his co-accused helpless with laughter.

But horrified magistrate Simon Bridge failed to see the funny side — and had windy Wildy marched into the dock by security staff.

When asked if he would purge (apologise for) his contempt, Wildy told the magistrates: “I’m sorry for disturbing the court and acting the goat.”
