Woman Catches Baby From 3rd Floor Balcony

Denver Police are calling a woman a hero after she caught a baby who fell off a third floor balcony.

It happened in an apartment complex in the 3100 block of South Tamarac Drive.

Mary Bussey and her son, Brandon, were walking out to her car when they looked up and saw a baby dangling from a third floor balcony.

Mary said she couldn't believe it and thought it must have been a joke at first; that somebody must have been holding the baby. They soon realized that the baby was holding onto a railing by a single hand.

Brandon ran up the stairs and tried to grab the baby before she could fall. At the same time, Mary positioned herself underneath the baby. Before Brandon could get up there, the baby's grip failed and she fell about 18 and half feet. According to Mary, she would have landed right on a concrete sidewalk if she had not stepped up and made a perfect catch.
