'Crack den' prison chaplain faces sack

A Pentonville prison chaplain faces the sack after smoking drugs at a north London crack den, it has been reported.

The Rev Robert Pearson, who is said to have befriended troubled singer Pete Doherty while he was being held on drugs charges at Pentonville, was reportedly filmed smoking crack in the housing association flat.

When confronted with the video, the Church of England chaplain is said to have admitted: "It's true, I can't make any excuses. It's a stupid sodding thing to do."

He last headed to the crack den - where other users called him "Father" - after holding a Remembrance Day service at Pentonville, it is alleged.

Mr Pearson, who is paid to work with drug-addicted prisoners, has been suspended from his post and now faces the sack as well as losing his prison-owned home.
