Creative sentence for man who shot own dog

Painesville Municipal Court Judge, Michael Cicconetti, offered a Madison Township man a deal to reduce his time in jail.

Robert Clark pleaded no contest to animal cruelty. Prosecutors say Clark tortured his own dog when he shot his Great Dane in the head, then tied it up behind a shed in his backyard. When police found the dog, he was still breathing. The dog was later euthanized.

Judge Cicconetti sentenced Clark to 30 days in jail. But Judge Cicconetti gave Clark the option of serving only 10 days, if he agreed to wear a dog costume and talk to elementary students about how to treat animals.

Clark has time to make his decision. His attorney is appealling the sentence.
