I'm quite liking Fennec Foxes.
According to the BBC, they're the smallest members of the dog family, although Wikipedia thinks differently.
Anyway, they're both pretty much agreed that they inhabit North Africa from Morocco to Egypt, south to north Niger and Sudan, east to Sinai Peninsula and Kuwait.
The Fennec is classified under CITES as a "species not necessarily threatened with extinction, but in which trade must be controlled in order to avoid utilization incompatible with their survival." In the United States there is a relatively established community of Fennec owners and breeders.
I'm not too sure how ethical it is too keep them as pets, but as it'll no doubt be illegal to keep them in the UK, it's not really my concern.
They do seem like fun though.
The video above features a Fennec puppy playing with the cats and dog he lives with.
Whilst here's a Fennec playing with a kitten and another playing with a corgi.
