Grandparents survive giant tree crash

An elderly couple had a miraculous escape when a huge tree crashed to the ground during high winds and skewered their car.

Grandparents Josie and Ray Tier were enjoying a weekend drive when the tree suddenly fell into the road.



It smashed through the front windscreen of their Ford Fusion and crashed out of the back of the car.

Incredibly the tree passed between them and the pair, both 72, escaped with minor injuries. Mrs Tier, of Emsworth, Hants, said: "It's a complete miracle we are alive.
