A crook called a taxi to his home and then robbed the driver at knife-point.
Peter Higgon threatened cabbie Steve York with the razor-sharp blade – just moments after being picked up outside his front door.
After threatening him with a knife, Higgon made off with just £55. Police arrested him as the driver told him where Higgon lived.
At Portsmouth Crown Court Higgon was jailed for three years after admitting having a bladed article in a public place, and robbery.
Mr York, 45, from Gosport, said: 'It's not the cleverest of crimes it has to be said.
'Robbing someone who has come to pick you up from your own home!'
