A Virginia man who allowed his 14-year-old son to drive after both had been drinking has pleaded guilty to felony child neglect.
James Vernon Holbert Jr. faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced in May.
Hanover County prosecutors said Holbert told police he'd been drinking too much, so he allowed his son to drive - even though the 14-year-old had also been drinking alcohol that Holbert provided.
The car veered off a road in Ashland last June and struck a tree, ejecting the boy. He was treated at the scene.
The teen was charged with driving without a license and driving after illegal consumption of alcohol, both misdemeanors.
