Mother speaks of horror after robber threatens baby with a gun

A robber held a gun to a baby's head and threatened to kill her before throwing her to the floor during a raid on a shop.

The gunman took eight-week-old Iqranoor Adnan by the throat and said he would shoot her unless her mother and grandmother handed over valuables.

He then wrenched the baby from her mother's arms and hurled her to the ground where she hit her head on a chair and was knocked unconscious.

The attack happened at the Fashion Mahal fabric shop, in Lowfield, Sheffield, where Marooj Akhtar was helping her mother Asmat Begum, 52, who runs the store.

Det Insp Zaf Ali, from Woodseats CID said: "We are treating this incident very seriously, especially as it could have had far more serious consequences – the baby was thrown five or six feet across the shop.
