A mother has withdrawn her son from school because he is allowed to drink only water.
Pickering Infant School in North Yorkshire has introduced a new drinks policy at the school which means pupils can only sip water during the day.
Children are allowed a drink of parental choice at lunchtime only.
Angela Cowton says five-year-old Owen has only ever drunk orange juice and will not drink water without a splash of cordial.
She says she will be forced to send both her son and daughter to a private school instead.
"As a mother I am extremely concerned that he has gone for two days without a drink apart from at lunchtime ... in an ideal world we would all drink 8 glasses of water every day but we don't live in an ideal world."
