Sixty years of wedded bliss ended in a flash when Charles and Mary Jennings had a barney which ended with her being hit over the head with a broom.
Mary, who has only ever had three rows with Charles, threw him out - and he was later charged with assault.
Yesterday, a court dropped the charges against him. But Mary said she'll never take him back.
Charles and Mary, both 81, wed in 1946 and enjoyed an idyllic marriage which produced seven children, 16 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
But last December, the devoted couple had a row about cleaning their house.
Mary claims Charles attacked her with a brush and knocked out three teeth when she said she wanted to take a rest from the housework.
Charles, who walks with a stick, claims he hit his wife with the brush accidentally as he tried to grab it out of her hand.
Retired fish factory worker Mary, who has had no contact with her husband since the row, said she can't forgive him.
