Father dies at daughter's wedding

A bride's father died in her arms after collapsing as he waited to give his speech at her wedding reception.

David Cowpe, 57, gave away his daughter, Stephanie, in church, but hours later he collapsed on to her shoulder and slid to the ground.

Stephanie, 31, and a group of relatives and friends tried to revive him, but a doctor pronounced him dead from natural causes.

Mr Cowpe was planning to retire from his two upholstery shops in Workington and Whitehaven, Cumbria.
