Early spy camera up for auction

A rare 19th-century watch camera is to be auctioned next month. The Lancaster Ladies Watch Camera, a nickel-plated pocket watch containing a tiny camera, is expected to fetch up to £15,000.

Patented in 1886, it was a forerunner of the spy camera. Only four such models, made by J. Lancaster & Son, are known to exist. The watch will be auctioned at Bonhams in Knowle, West Midlands, on May 9.
