Man calls police to say narcotics officers chased him up tree

A man called St. Cloud police Wednesday saying he was stuck in a tree and that narcotics officers had chased him there, Sgt. Jeff Janssen said.

Police were called at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday to a tree in the 2800 block of Pioneer Lane. Jeremy Conrad Cornick, 30, was in the tree and said narcotics officers from Freeborn County had chased him.

Officers determined that Cornick was under the influence of drugs, hallucinating and had not been chased up the tree by narcotics officers, Janssen said.

As officers tried to get Cornick to climb down from the tree, he lost his grip and fell, Janssen said.

Cornick was not injured. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for evaluation before being transported to Stearns County Jail.
