Eat London

Using everyday ingredients such as samosas and sandwiches, an edible – if not exactly recognisable – map has been created by food artists and amateur cooks.

The London Eye was made from pizza, samosas were used to create a replica Tower Bridge, and toasted cucumber sandwiches, breadsticks and olives were turned into the Houses of Parliament.

After food artist Alicia Rios and architect Barbara Ortiz came up with idea, they called on they help of amateur cooks and Lift, the London International Festival of Theatre.

The 60sq m map was divided into 15 sections, each of which was created by different community groups from South and East London.

Once complete, the culinary creations were taken into serving tents dotted around Trafalgar Square and visitors were invited to tuck in.
