A mother was left in shock after finding a dead newt in her Sainsbury's salad.

Susan Williams, 37, feeding her baby and didn't spot the newt as she put it into her mouth.

She said: "It was absolutely horrible. I'll never forget biting into that newt as long as I live."

"I couldn't believe what I'd just been eating. It was revolting." Shocked Susan took the newt to her local vet where they confirmed her worst fears.

"The newt was about 9cm long from head to tail. "I also called the local council's environmental health department," she said.

"I also contacted Sainsbury's and have sent them the newt for investigation."
