Pub sign sparks police inquiry

Police have launched an inquiry after a homophobic sign was put up outside a Trowbridge pub.

The new landlord of the Anchor and Hope in Frome Road, is due to be questioned over the sign, which appeared last week promoting the pub's reopening on Friday.

Faggots and mince not on the menu

The pub's former landlords John Williams, and his 26-year-old partner Lee, believe the sign, which read faggots and mince not on the menu, refers to them and have made a formal complaint to police.

Trowbridge police confirmed an inquiry has been launched, with investigations focussing on possible offences under the Public Order Act.

The sign was taken down by Friday morning.
