A chicken with three legs that was abandoned at a Sussex animal centre is being kept away from other birds to stop it from being bullied.
Staff at the Sussex Horse Rescue Trust, Uckfield, discovered the extra-limbed hen when she was left on their drive.
Helper Pauline Grant said: "We just thought that somebody dumped a little hen on us, but when we put her on the ground we realised she had three legs."
The chicken is being kept in isolation to stop the birds pecking at her.
It is hoped the chicken will be able to be integrated with the other birds once its extra leg is removed at the weekend.
