A pensioner has voiced her anger after claiming she was refused entry to a bus because she has dyed her hair pink and no longer looks like the picture on her bus pass.
Delia Groome retired two months ago and claims she has since been turned away by bus drivers on at least four occasions due to the identity issue.
The 65-year-old has dyed her hair a bold shade of pink, but argues it is clear that it is still her on the pass.
Despite being offered a new card that would reflect her new image at no cost by Tendring District Council, she has turned it down and is asking for an apology from Cedric Coaches, which runs the service she uses.
Mrs Groome, of Chapel Road, Brightlingsea, is a former carer and said she changed her hair to brighten up the lives of some of her patients.
She said she felt “angry and embarrassed” when she could not get on board. It has upset me because I felt as though I may have been discriminated against because I'm different - but I'm not that different.”
