Drunk horsejacker leaves two injured

A drunk woman caused chaos when she hijacked a horse-drawn wedding carriage and ran down a one-legged man on a mobility scooter.

The incident happened at 7pm on Sunday outside the Good Companion pub in Roderick Avenue, Peacehaven.

The shire horses were standing outside the pub when the woman and her daughter clambered aboard and whipped them into bolting.

They knocked a disabled man off his scooter and ran over one of the horses' owners as the animals headed off down the road.

The animals - which weigh nearly a tonne each - wrote off a parked car and damaged beyond repair the £10,000 carriage they were pulling.

The disabled man was left bleeding on the pavement as other drinkers rushed to his aid.

Police in Peacehaven are appealing for witnesses to the bizarre chain of events.
