Hillbilly Hotdogs unveil 10-pound burger

Hillbilly Hotdogs of Huntington made history on Friday, July 20, 2007, when it brought out their first ten pound hamburger on a bun with pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, onions and cheese for the hearty hamburger appetite.

Hillbilly Hotdogs already made a five pound hamburger called the Big Bad Bubba's Singlewide. The new ten pounder is called the Doublewide.

A hamburger this size requires a special large size bun that is made by Brunetti's. The meat comes from Logan's. It takes two pounds of pickles, two heads of lettuce, three tomatoes, three onions and 25 slices of cheese to cover it.

Hillbilly Hotdog Proprietors Sonny and wife Sharie Knight are behind the making of the large ten pound hamburgers.

Sonny said, "We wanted to have a big burger. We already had a five pounder and someone said make it a double wide. We had a contest to see who would come up with the best name. Doublewide and Boss Hog were the top ones and Doublewide won out."

He said, "The hamburger is expensive to make with all those ingredients. Right now the price is $31.95, but I think it might go up."
