Judge lets instructor remove tag

A gym instructor convicted of assault has successfully appealed against wearing an electronic tag because he says it made him look like a criminal.

Lewis Beer, 21, of Cheltenham, told the judge at Gloucester Crown Court he would be refused work as the tag was visible when he wore his gym kit.

He was fired by Cheltenham Borough Council after being convicted of an assault at Moda nightclub in April.

Judge Timothy Mousley QC ordered him to do 30 hours of unpaid work instead.
