Man fights landlord to keep prized showerhead

Bill Hice lays claim to "the world's best showerhead."

And like many great blessings, the $400, four-jet showerhead - a gift from his late brother - has proved as much a curse, too.

Hice claims his landlords, Marin and Carol Mladic, keep trying to "steal" it from his home of 13 years in the 3900 block of West 115th Street in Alsip



"It's the best kind you can get - like the ones they use in YMCAs and other public buildings because they're indestructible," he said.

"The first time (the Mladics) took and replaced it with a $1.98 piece of (junk), my sister went and got it back," said Hice, a former Chicago cop. "The second time, I sent the police."

Now the bizarre battle has ended up in Cook County Circuit Court, with the Mladics moving to evict Hice.

For now, the shower head is safely reinstalled in his bathroom, which Hice has rigged so that the radio comes on whenever he turns on the light switch for a refreshing shower.

"They're jealous - it gives a great shower," said Hice.
