It wasn't a sasquatch, but this hairy creature has been spooking campers in and around Whiteshell Provincial Park for more than a year.
Mounties responded to a call from a woman camping in Pinawa, roughly 90 km east of Winnipeg, around midnight on July 30, who said some sort of beast had banged on her camper window, then ran away.
RCMP later discovered an 18-year-old man in a gorilla mask.
"Basically he was just wearing one of those monkey masks," said Const. Kyle Bernier yesterday. "It was hairy and ugly."
Bernier added alcohol wasn't a factor in the pranks, which began taking place last summer.
The man was spoken to by RCMP, but wasn't charged with any crime -- although he could have been.
