A different way to a green lawn

Some homeowners are green with envy because the drought has turned their green grass brown. But some homeowners in North Carolina are taking steps to keep their lawns picture perfect.

Even the best landscaping crew has trouble keeping the grass green when Mother Nature forgets to turn on the tap, and that's exactly what one crew offers to do.

"They'll look at you about two or three times to make sure that's what you're saying," said John Imand. who owns Always Green Grass Painting Company in North Carolina.

The non-toxic paint makes it safe around animals. It dries in 30 minutes to two hours, depending on the weather, and can last for up to 90 days during the winter when people are cutting the grass less often, Mr. Callahan said.

The service costs about 6 cents per square foot.
