A wedding party is demanding compensation after missing the ceremony because of a nightmare taxi journey.
Helen Tate and family travelled 200 miles to see a relative's wedding in St Annes - but ended up missing the big day after a taxi driver took them to the wrong church.
Mrs Tate says she showed the taxi driver the wedding invitation and off they went. But, unbeknown to the Scottish clan, they were dropped off at Fairhaven Methodist Church in Woodlands Road.Mrs Tate said: "The taxi couldn't have driven off quicker."
"When we realised no-one was at the church, we walked down the road to the White Church. I started to cry when I realised no-one was there. "I travelled 200 miles to see this wedding and instead I was wandering round empty churches."
The party did eventually arrive at the Methodist Church in St Annes, but by that time, bride and groom, Nadine Nimmo and Gary Wilson, had been sped off to the reception. "I just feel very angry and upset," added Mrs Tate.
Now Mrs Tate, from Ayrshire, Scotland, is demanding that Whitesides taxis fully reimburse her - to the tune of £350 - for her entire trip to the Fylde coast.
But Whiteside taxis have sent the family a cheque for £4.
Whitesides Taxis owner Daniel Whiteside claimed it was Mrs Tate who was confused about where she was going. "We are here to provide a good service, but if people do not tell us where we need to go, what are we supposed to do?"
