Israeli woman's army impersonation took her to war

Israeli police arrested on Tuesday a woman who pretended to be an army officer for five years, and even went to last summer's war in Lebanon, because it made her "feel good".

Police said the 24-year-old woman had visited army bases throughout the country dressed in uniform and carrying a replica M-16 assault rifle that had been bought from a store.

Israeli media reported that during last summer's war with Hezbollah guerrillas, the woman joined an artillery battery located near Israel's border with Lebanon and assisted soldiers with their operations.

"She will undergo psychological tests and the investigation is continuing. It's something we haven't dealt with before," said police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld.
