New study reveals unusual travel insurance claims

Although many of the tourists who claim on their travel insurance policies are related to delayed flights, bags going missing and lost passports, recently released figures from Go Travel Insurance have revealed some slightly more unusual cases.

According to the firm, one holidaymaker reported that he had misplaced his bag while abroad, yet what he was actually claiming for was a bottle of water, a packet of mints and a newspaper.

Meanwhile, a man contacted staff in an attempt to make a claim that after reporting that he had been harassed by a monkey while in Gibraltar. He reported that the animal would not leave him alone and then stole his camera.

Research from the firm also revealed bizarre travel insurance claims to include attempts to get compensation for a 'bad' haircut and the costs of an operation for a pet - which was in Britain while his owner was abroad.
