Thieves try to steal live cables

Reckless thieves risked death at a Nuneaton quarry when they tried to steal live electric cables.

They broke into the landfill site at Judkins Quarry in Tuttle Hill and forced open a door to the cable cabinet then removed a steel plate to gain access to the cable.

While trying to remove the live cable, the thieves caused a power cut at the site.

It is thought they were trying to steal the cable for the metal content.

A police spokeswoman said: "This was obviously extremely dangerous."
