‘Lost’ baby left locked in nursery

A baby was abandoned inside a nursery for two-and-a-half hours after staff locked up and went home for the night.

Police mounted a major search when Ruby Leadbeater’s frantic relatives reported her missing after being told by nursery staff that someone had already collected the one-year-old.



But further inquiries led them back to the nursery, where Ruby, from Abingdon Close, Merefield, was discovered fast asleep in her pram.

A member of the nursery staff has since been suspended.
