Master criminal leaves vital clue at scene of burglary

Burglar Peter Addison was nabbed by police - because he scrawled "Peter Addison was here" at the scene of his crime.

The 18-year old wrote his name in black marker pen on a wall as he and pals raided a campsite and went on a boozy wrecking spree.

At Macclesfield magisrates court Addison, of Heaton Mersey, Stockport admitted burglary. He was was given a one year conditional discharge ordered to pay £750 compensation and pay £20 costs. Accomplice Mark Ridgeway, 18, of Poynton - who also admitted burglary - was sentenced to 60 hours community service, pay £750 compensation with £20 costs.

The lads were said to be members of a gang called the "Adlington Massiv." After the case Insp Gareth Woods of Cheshire Police said: "This crime is up there were the dumbest of all in the criminal league table. There are some pretty stupid criminals around but to leave your own name at the scene of the crime takes the biscuit. The dafetness of this lad certainly made our job a lot easier."
