Thief leaves sliced finger behind

A burglar left behind part of his finger after slicing it off on razor wire as he broke into a builder's yard.

The thief was thought to have been climbing into Elliotts Builders Merchants in Newgate Lane, Fareham, Hampshire on Tuesday night.

The remains of the finger were found by Max Gibson, a 19-year-old mechanic from a neighbouring business.

"I went out the back to put some rubbish out when I looked at a concrete slab and saw it," he said. "I had to take a second look and then realised it was a finger."

"At first, it did not look real - it had been ripped from the bone and there was just the flesh of the finger."

"I have never seen something like that in real life. Stealing is not worth it if you lose your finger."
