The Beatles had just released Sergeant Pepper, Harold Wilson was the Prime Minister, the Torrey Canyon ran aground and the Vietnam War was raging. And Jozef Dudzik bought himself a Wolseley 16/60.
Now, after 40 years of almost daily use, he's reluctantly putting it up for sale.
The car, bought new for £760 from Jozef's native Poland, is still in full working order, having recently passed its MoT.
The 1.6 litre engine is in good condition and Jozef says he never has any trouble starting it. In total it has clocked up more than 133,000 miles.
Mr Dudzik said: "It has been used normally every day in the family from new". Three of my four children learned to drive in it, and now my grandson Sebastian is also insured and drives it."
"It would be a real shame to see it go to scrap once I go."
