A girl of two sneaked out of her home and toddled 650 yards through a subway for a swim on her favourite beach.
Adventurous Mia Tribble was only saved from drowning by a sharp-eyed cyclist who spotted her in the waves.
The tot made her break for freedom while her dad was in the bathroom and her mum slept.
She managed to open the door and find her way through the subway to the sea in Stamshaw, Portsmouth.
But when she waded straight into the water Sarah, Read 54, dashed in and pulled her out.
The mum-of-two had seen Mia earlier but hadn't wanted to scare the tot by grabbing her. She said: "I followed her but thought she'd stop at the water. She didn't - so I just flung myself in and got her."
Police report here.
