Litter mystery of the phantom paper shredder

Police are trying to identify a man they believe is responsible for a series of "bizarre littering sprees". He is described as white and in his mid to late 30s.

Large amounts of shredded paper have been strewn around Caerleon, near Newport, Wales, at least 10 times in the last two years, residents say.

Shredded paper

Pc Akbar Ali, the neighbourhood officer for Caerleon, said: "The offender shreds many, many pieces of paper and then leaves a trail around the village. There is no apparent reason for the littering, but it needs to stop. It doesn't cause any damage, but it does cause a lot of grief for people.

"If anyone knows the man responsible for the littering, or sees a man carrying shredded paper, they should call us immediately."
