Man arrested in robbery attempt that amputated victim's finger

A man was in the Gwinnett County jail Friday after he allegedly ripped off a woman's finger during a purse snatching earlier in the week.

Gwinnett County police said the woman was in the parking lot of a Kroger grocery store on Five Forks Trickum Road in Lilburn Wednesday. As the woman entered her car police said the suspect, 21-year-old Caesare Ratheal Pinkins, drove by her and grabbed her purse. The snatching caused one of the woman's fingers to detach from her hand.

Surgeons were unable to reattach the finger to the woman's hand and authorities said she had been released from the hospital.
