A woman was battling for life in a city hospital on Sunday after a monkey attacked her and 25 others in an East Delhi locality, giving its residents a fresh scare about the simian menace.
Farzana was attacked on Saturday night in the slums of Shastri Park area when she was fast asleep and was admitted to the LNJP Hospital in Central Delhi where her condition was stated to be serious.
About 25 people, including a number of children, were injured in the simian attack and many of them had injuries on their hands.
Lathi-wielding residents kept a vigil all through the night in the area to catch the monkey but were not successful.
"We were sleeping on the terrace when I was attacked by the monkey," Sariana, who suffered injuries on her left hand, said.
Local said that the monkey menace prevailed in the area for some time. They claimed that they had complained the MCD officials about the menace but no monkey-cathchers were sent to the locality.
