Police try to solve stolen pie mystery

Police were stumped by the mystery of the missing Shepherd’s Pie on Wednesday.

A 24-year-old Berkshire Street, Cambridge, man reported a thief broke into his apartment sometime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Nov. 14.

The burglar ate some leftover Shepherd’s Pie in the refrigerator, but was considerate enough to place the dirty Pyrex pie pan in the sink before leaving, according to police reports. However, the pie thief did forget to turn the gas off on the way out, police said.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment and nothing else was missing.

The victim told police he checked with his roommate and girlfriend and neither of them were in the apartment that day.
