Traders at a Lancashire resort are being advised to stop selling "lewd" items or face prosecution and having their goods confiscated.
It is hoped the warning, from police and local council, will help Blackpool to clean up its image.
The resort is a popular destination for stag and hen parties and has led to some traders on the promenade selling "lewd inflatable novelty goods."
It is illegal for items such as blow-up dolls, inflatable genitalia and some sex aids to be on display where minors can see them.
In the past, Blackpool Council has turned a blind eye but now it will enforce the legislation which bans these items from being sold in unregistered venues.
Peter Callow, leader of Blackpool Council, said: "We've all seen blow-up dolls and other vulgar items for sale on the promenade. Although it may appear as a bit of harmless fun for many it can be deemed offensive."
